Check out this beautiful piece of vintage wool fabric I bought! I found it while rummaging at a thrift store and it was such a bargain at only $3 for the whole piece. I adore the rusty orange colour, which reminds me of my Dad – he loves orange a lot! It’s not a hugely long piece of fabric, but it is quite wide. I’m not sure what I’ll make out of it yet. There’s not enough fabric for a jacket, but there would be plenty for a skirt or a pair of tailored shorts. I’ll have to line it, as it’s a bit itchy, but I think some wintery style shorts layered with tights would look cute and be a refreshing change from the jeans that I wear most days.
I love finding vintage fabrics as they’re often quite different to the styles and colours that are readily available in the major fabric stores now. Fabric, especially wool, can also be expensive and who doesn’t love a bargain? Whatever I decide to make out of it, I’ll be pairing it with the blouse that I’m yet to make out of this sweet cotton print. I think the colours go together beautifully. I can’t wait until I have time to actually design and make these pieces. They’ll both really brighten up my wardrobe, which during this wintery time of year is sadly lacking in colour. There’s nothing like bold, warm colours and pretty prints to brighten my mood on a dreary day!

Lovely finds, I like how well they go together. Show us soon what you will make out of them.
ohhhh! i love the wool fabric! what a great find!
I still haven’t decided what to make out of it! Now I’m thinking a skirt would be the most versatile option. I think I just need to make a decision and get sewing!
