Autumn has arrived here in Australia and I have to say it is my favourite season. I love the crisp, cool mornings (although it’s still been quite warm so far) and I love watching the trees that line my street change colour before dropping their leaves. I spent the weekend doing some work around the house including scrubbing this vintage ladder we bought on ebay. The metal cross on the back was covered in rust and the timber was pretty dirty. I cleaned the wood with soapy water and scrubbed the metal with steel wool and vinegar, which turned out to be a rather effective way of removing the rust. We still haven’t decided whether we want to paint or treat the timber in some way, or just leave it as it is. This is just one of many projects I’ve got on the go at the moment.
