Yesterday was my birthday so Matt took me to see the Saatchi Exhibition currently showing at the Art Gallery of South Australia! We both really like art but don’t go to exhibitions as often as we’d like, so we really enjoyed taking time out to see this exhibition yesterday. It was a collection of works from the Saatchi Gallery in London, which exhibits contemporary art often by artists that are largely unknown (until their work is shown in the Saatchi Gallery, that is). As such it has helped to launch the careers of many new artists. The Saatchi Gallery is also known for a number of controversial exhibitions it has shown over the years.
Some of the works at the exhibition were intelligent and beautiful, some I didn’t like so much, and several challenged the traditional notions of what constitutes art. Overall it was really interesting and Matt and I both loved it.
After the exhibition we wandered over to the Central Markets for bubble tea. You might remember a little while ago I said I had never tried it before and wanted to change that. If you’ve never had bubble tea before, it’s a drink that originated in Taiwan and can be either tea based, fruity or milk based. The thing that makes bubble tea really different is that it contains these soft, chewy bubbles, (also called pearls, or bobba), that are made from tapioca.
For my first bubble tea experience I tried a kiwi flavour (I don’t really drink milk) and it was delicious! Matt had a chocolate milk version. It’s such fun trying something new!
I have no idea what the Tea Eggs behind Matt’s shoulder are! I didn’t even notice that sign until looking at this photo! Any ideas?
We also found this rose tea at the markets which looks almost too pretty to use!
I had such a fun birthday spending time with Matt, looking at art and wandering around the markets!
As for my outfit, my style is usually pretty simple and in the past I’ve always stuck to basic black stockings, but I recently decided to branch out and add some colour to my legs. I love these burgundy coloured tights and they’re such a fun way to brighten a basic outfit.
The rest of the outfit details are: Dress – designed and handmade by me (shirt dresses are so versatile I want to make heaps more in different colours and styles!), stockings – Platinum from Myer, boots – Gino Pucci (they’re so old they’re falling apart, but I just love them), coat – Dotti, handbag – Sportsgirl, “cuff” – Saatchi Exhibition (it’s totally this season’s hottest new accessory. Yep.)

Glad you got to try bubble tea! I love the coloured tights on other people, but whenever I try to style it, it just doesn’t work! I stick mainly to black, sometimes with fun patterns.
I know it’s a bit late, but… HAAPPY BIRTHDAAY!!
Thank you!
Very nice ensemble, the red stockings are a spicy addition.
About tea eggs: have a look at wikipedia, they have an extensive explanation of this chinese delicacy.
