Leopard Print Bow Shoe Refashion

Ages ago I refashioned these basic black ballet flats by removing the existing trim and adding detachable handmade black bows instead. I’ve decided it’s time for another change! I chose a fun animal print fabric to make some more bows for a playful, retro look. To make the bows, I used iron on interfacing on the back of the fabric, as it’s quite light weight and I didn’t want the bows to be floppy. I then made the bows in the same way as I made the original black bows. You can read the full instructions and see the original refashion here.

While previously I used velcro to make the bows removable, I found that it made the bows stick up a bit high and being the perfectionist that I am, I wasn’t really happy with this. If you want to make detachable bows (so you can make different sets and change them around), I’d recommend using shoe clips. As yet I have been unable to find shoe clips locally, but undoubtedly they’re available online. In this case however, I love these leopard print bows and think they’ve added a new lease of life to my plain old shoes so I was happy to commit and just glue them on! I think they look super cute I have quite a bit of fabric left over from the bows that I think would make a lovely scarf!

they’re in the UK but shipped overseas promptly and weren’t pricey. And they’re nicer than the ones I found at a little haberdashery here.
