Learn to Sew!

Now you can learn to sew while hanging out with me here at my blog! We can have many cups of tea and sewing adventures together. Yay!

Sewing is happiness

As I’ve mentioned in previous blog posts, my mother taught me to sew when I was just a little girl. Sometimes friends have expressed an interest in sewing and craft but don’t know where to begin and it’s then I realise that I take for granted some of the basic knowledge that is now second nature to me.

Even simple projects can be daunting if you don’t know the basics. It can be very disheartening to put a lot of time or effort into a project, only to have it not turn out as well as you’d hoped. This negative experience can then discourage people from attempting similar projects again, which is sad because I think there is so much joy to be found through making things.

With that in mind I’ve decided to start going over some sewing and craft basics in depth by providing some detailed tutorials. I’ll be adding to the tutorials bit by bit and over time I hope that my Learn to Sew library of posts will be a helpful resource to you if you’re attempting a project and are finding yourself stuck on a certain technique. Some of the topics might seem very basic and simple to you if you’ve had a lot of sewing experience, but I want to make it accessible to people who’ve had no sewing experience at all.

There are also different ways of doing different techniques. I’ll be showing you how I do certain things, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only way of achieving the same outcome. If you have a different way of doing something that I write a tutorial about, I’d love to hear about it so please feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts.

Stay tuned!

  1. HI Ange, this sounds like a bonza idea. I really need some basic techniques to help me get started.
Just a little bloggy suggestion. It is almost impossible to find the leave a comment link on your posts. Could you try and make it bigger/more visable in your layout… it would help a lot.

Thanks Sophie, I hope you find my guides helpful.

Unfortunately, the theme I’m using can’t be altered. I can do hems, but not coding! Click on individual posts and the comment box should be pretty easy to find.
