How great is this crochet top? I was looking through some vintage crochet patterns with my Mum over Christmas when I found it. I really want to make it! I want to make it without the sleeves though. I think it would look cute with little wooden buttons instead of the pearly ones. I would wear it layered over a plain singlet and team it with jeans or denim shorts. Then I will listen to Led Zeppelin and Billy Joel and pretend that I am living in the 70s.
The crochet top is not the only thing on my list of things to make. I am also making a crochet scarf to use up some wool I had lying around. The wool is really thick so the scarf is taking shape quickly. Can you tell that I’m really getting into crochet? I also want to make a big crochet zig-zag blanket for our bedroom – I think it will take me years to complete a project that big though.
I want to make myself more clothes this year, too. I haven’t been shopping for ages, and to be honest, I don’t enjoy shopping as much as I used to. I’ve got a number of pieces of fabric sitting in my cupboard that I’ve had for years so I’m planning on actually using some of them this year.
My wardrobe is particularly lacking in winter clothes and I absolutely hate being cold, so despite that fact that it’s still summer here in Australia, I’m already thinking about what I want to make for winter. This gorgeous piece of blue wool crepe has been waiting to be made into a coat for a few years now. Coats take a huge amount of time and effort, which is why I haven’t started it yet.
I pretty much live in jeans, but I’m getting a bit bored of this look and want to branch out and wear different types of trousers. This grey, pinstripe, wool cashmere blend will make lovely tailored trousers that will hopefully keep me warm in winter. I bought the fabric on our honeymoon in Vietnam and it appears to be a high quality Italian fabric, possibly a D&G end of roll so I am nervous about using it. I’ll probably do about five toiles of my pattern before I’m game enough to cut into the fabric.
I also want to make myself some pretty sleepwear out of these sweet, floral, cotton jersey fabrics that Matt bought me.
AND I want to design and make lots more softie and bag patterns to add to my shop. So many things to make. So little time. Sigh.
What are you making at the moment? What do you want to make next?

I love the crochet top and I agree that it will look better without sleeves and with little buttons.
Your creative plans are very inspiring. I sew less and less for me, I am not really that interested in clothes any more, but I like your ideas and the pretty fabrics.
About the cashmere fabric, When I am intimidated about cutting something really nice, I think that if I died the pretty fabric would be thrown out or at best given to charity. So, what harm can you do? Cut, cut, my friend!
Haha! I hadn’t thought of it like that. Once I’ve drafted my pattern, I will cut with confidence!
