It is the week before Christmas! Have you finished all your Christmas shopping? Are you excited about Christmas? Or perhaps you are stressed because there is still so much to do? To minimise the stress of last minute shopping and to avoid crowded shopping centres, we did our Christmas shopping pretty early and were finished by early December. (Except for some baking which I will do this week so it’s fresh and hopefully delicious!) I haven’t always been a particularly organised person, so I’m quite please with our effort this year. Over the weekend we spent some time wrapping the last of the gifts. I really enjoy gift wrapping but I refuse to spend a fortune on fancy ribbons and expensive paper.
We bought a couple of rolls of starry wrapping paper at a discount department store and combined them with brown craft paper (I buy it in huge rolls from Officeworks), scraps of tissue paper left over from previous gifts, jute twine, bakers twine and Christmas stamps. It’s amazing the different combinations you can come up with using just a few different types of paper. One of the most useful things I bought was the little Christmas stamp set (from Kikki.K). We used them not only to embellish the wrapping paper, but also to make gift tags. The tags are simply cut from the piece of brown card at the back of some old notepads.
This one is my favourite. I cut out some stars from the wrapping paper and stuck them on the plain brown paper, overlapping a few over the strip of starry paper around the middle. Cutting and gluing those tiny stars was fiddly and time consuming though, so this is the only present that I did like this. What is your approach to gift wrapping? Do you have any hints for making your presents extra pretty?
